Shake it Off

     The lyrics of "Shake it Off" matches the music video. They are about people putting Taylor Swift down, trying to make her feel like a nonentity. People say lots of churlish things to her, but she doesn't care. Swift is indifferent to all of the insulting comments that display her small defects. She "shakes it off" and gets over everything people say about her. She recognizes her value and respects herself for who she is.  Taylor Swift only pays attention to  what she thinks, not what people want her to think.
     In the music video, there are many scenes where Taylor Swift is trying to do something everyone else can do, but fails. One of these is ballet. While the rest of the ballerinas are dancing perfectly in unison, Swift does her own thing. At first, she attempts to perform the same moves, but then decides to stay aloof from the crowd. She makes up a unique dance, a dance she actually can do. Others look at her like she is crazy, but she continues her original moves, smiling genuinely.
     Both the lyrics and the music video of "Shake It Off" include Taylor Swift instilling her own superiority into herself, despite the hateful remarks of others. She is very audacious to show people that she is not as vulnerable as they think she is.
